Sunshine Fund
This month, our Sunshine Fund will support two local nonprofits. Donate today in our Taproom!
March 1-15: The Birds of Vermont Museum
This museum uses art and science to teach attendees about birds and conservation. You can explore their 100 acres of natural communities to bird watch, picnic, photograph, walk and hike. Donations collected in the taproom will go toward improving the trail system through bridge repair, trail maintenance, enhancing the Discovery trail and the outdoor classroom, re-grading the treehouse trail, purchasing new plants and tools for the pollinator garden, replacing birdhouses, creating an art installation, adding additional picnic tables and upgrading and printing the trail map.
March 16-31: Rokeby Museum
The Rokeby Museum is a National Historic Landmark in Ferrisburgh situated on 90-acres with 50 acres of trails telling the story of the property, the family who lived there and the important role both played in the Underground Railroad. Four generations of the Robinson family utilized the land for farming. They were one of the first families in Vermont to import Merino sheep. The money earned from wool allowed the family to focus on the anti-slavery movement. The farm was a stop on the Underground Railroad, not only because the family offered shelter and supported emancipation, but because freedom seekers could work and earn a wage once they arrived. The farm and anti-slavery work were innately entwined, and the Rokeby Museum will use the Sunshine Fund donation to update outdoor signage to share this story and create more accessibility to buildings and trails.
January
Through our January sunshine Fund, we donated $9,891.24 to Good Samaritan Haven and $13,679.88 to Vermont Land Trust Hinesburg Town Forest Management Fund. Good Samaritan Haven provides emergency assistance to people experiencing homelessness and the Hinesburg Town Forest Management Fund actively conserves and protects the Hinesburg Town Forest. Thank you to all who donated in January to make such a big impact on our community.
